Bye-Bye Pie

How can this be? Now who is going to tuck Danny in at night and read him his bedtime story? Most certainly not Chara...

I'm very concerned about who is going to look after him now. After going over Boston's roster, Recchi is the oldest but he's such a clod. I guess it's going to have to be Sturm. He seems to be the most responsible, and you know we need someone to make sure Danny doesn't loose his blankie!!

It's a sad day for me.

And to top it off, Vanek broke Danny's stick during his last-ever practice with Buffalo! I hope it wasn't Danny who hit Vanek, or he may be off to Boston in tears... :(

I SAW GOOSE!!

So I realize that I haven't written a lot lately. But I felt the need to tell you all about one of the greatest moments-slash-missed opportunities ever.

A little while ago I was working [at a popular, unnamed supermarket] on a Saturday, which equates shitty day. Super busy, people being asses, etc. So I was having a crappy day and my supervisor came over to me and asked if I cared to go home a little early [5-10 min] and I told him I absolutely would love it. So a lady came on to take over my shift and I went up front to request some days off. As I was standing at the podium, I saw, with my very own eyes, my GOOSE!! YES, PAUL GAUSTAD!!! He was standing with his cart, flipping through a magazine. Apparently he was waiting for his [girl?]friend to get some ginger ale. I proceeded to stare at him for a bit, until he looked up and we made eye contact, then I looked down and I'm sure my face turned a billion shades of red.

Just then his [girl?]friend came over to him and they got in line. Here's the kicker-- THEY GOT IN THE LINE I WAS JUST WORKING AT ALL DAY!!!! Had I not left early, I would have checked him out [wait, what??]!!! I was so pissed. The ONE day I get to leave just a little early, I missed the greatest opportunity to talk to Goose.

Story of my life. However, my dad pointed out later that at least I got to see him at all. Which is true, but I wasn't in the glass-half-full mood at that time.  I mean, I have been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time. I had the speech all prepared- I would ask him how he became Superman, thank him for being the most reliable person to put on a jersey all year, explain my great love for him, how he is the namesake for my blog, you know all the basics.

I haven't seen him since that day. I knew when I started working at this store I'd prolly see a lot of the guys because of where it's located [I have had the opportunity to see Lydman and Pominville]. Apparently I've JUST missed Numminen and Vanek on a few occasions.

But honestly, I was surprised Goose was there. It's a well-known fact that him and Miller live downtown [or at least in the city I mean]. This particular store is out in the 'burbs. I wonder if maybe his [girl?]friend lives nearby? I donno. Again, another question I would have asked him given the opportunity.

[Although, truth be told, I'm sure I would have completely clammed right up and not said a single word to him. It would have been amazingly awkward I'm sure of it.]

Ah, Goose. Someday my friend, someday.

It's another sad day in Buff-a-land

...and that's all she wrote.

More on this later.

Mr. Pyatt, I'm sorry

Well I haven't posted in almost a month, which is startling to even me. This is due to a combination of things [being sick, working a lot, mom in hospital, Sabres making me suicidal, etc].

However, I do need to send out my deepest condolences to one of my favorite former Sabres, Taylor Pyatt. Some of you may have heard by now, but his fiancee died in a tragic car accident yesterday.

Are You Kidding Me? Please Be Joking...

Who's taking bets on the date of TO and Marshawn's first "team-building" arrest together? Hmm? Any takers? Maybe they can decimate Jim Kelly's house together now.

Let's just hope TO can teach Hardy some actual football skills [and hopefully he won't pick up on the 'me, me, me' attitude] and not implicate him in a hit-and-run like Marshawn's welcome-to-town party.

Don't get me wrong, Owens is a top-notch receiver that will hopefully be able to take some pressure off Evans for a while. But he's just such an arrogant cock. He instantly makes the Bills better, I'm not arguing that. But really, how can you make us worse? Make us not make the playoffs... again? Now there's something we haven't done in a while...

I just hope he doesn't send Trent running for the razors. I feel like Edwards is delicate goods right now, and I don't want something to send him into JP-mode [like a receiver who complains that he doesn't get enough touches, or worse yet, that the QB isn't good enough for him]. I feel something like that could do irreversible damage to his poor little psyche.

And I can't even talk about the Sabres game. Ugh.

You've GOT to be kidding...

So this bronchitis is kicking my ass, but I have to get something off my chest.

TIM CONNOLLY 2-years, $9 million? Are you kidding me?

I love my TimBits, don't get me wrong. But he is in no way NEAR worth that much money. His already big head just got a thousand times bigger. I didn't think he was worth the $3 million, let alone give him a RAISE!!

I can't even talk about this anymore. Other than to say that because of this, you know he's going to get a concussion tonight and be out for the season. Sorry, I'm just saying...

No words

So I realize that I have fallen off the face of the earth, blog-wise. Work and home life has been utterly insane. Because of the combination of those two disasters I haven't been able to take notes on the games. I've seen all of them, just not had time to document them. Yes, I know this disappoints all 1 of you readers out there :)

However, an emergency has arisen that I cannot, and will not NOT write about.

We all know [I still refuse to even say the words] what is going on with our #1. And now our #2 is sick with the flu. Good God, someone get him some Pedialyte, cuz we've got all sirens blaring for help right now.

I mean, do you all realize that means Enroth would start- which could be a pleasant surprise [highly unlikely, and of course minus the mono]... but that's not the biggest issue here. The biggest issue is who would back up our 3rd-stringer. Well, our 4th AND 5th stringers are hurt*... so I don't know what that means other than I hope that our Website producer owns some goalie equipment.

How would you like to be Portland though? You all of the sudden have to call up 2 random dudes that have never played for you before in their lives... I mean Kellen Briggs splits time in the ECHL and Rob Lemelin is a backup on some EPHL team. Oh Gawd...

*Taken from Sabres.com:
Adam Dennis has split time with Enroth this season, but has been out of the lineup since December with a hip injury. His replacement, John DeCaro - recalled from the ECHL’s Las Vegas Wranglers -suffered a broken collarbone in a game last weekend.
